Overview of Event Week Volunteer Roles

Elevate Yoga is thrilled to host its 10th annual festival on July 20, 2024 at The University of Akron. Our success and longevity would not be possible without the time and support we receive from people like you — our amazing volunteers.

Whether you have attended our events in the past or are brand new, we would love for you to help us make a positive and lasting difference in our community by volunteering with Elevate Yoga. Festival day volunteers will receive a limited edition volunteer shirt and a fun-filled day of yoga with a complimentary event pass!

We have something for everyone. If you’d like to start volunteering now, we’re more than happy to fold you into the event planning team. If you only have time during the week of the event…that’s amazing, we need you. Are you a massage therapist, reiki healer or energy-based practice provider? We’d love to host you at our popular healing tent where you can provide donation-based healing services at our event. Your support is vital and appreciated.

Lead Volunteers

The five lead volunteer roles are essential to the function of Elevate Akron Yoga festival. These five volunteers will volunteer leading up to the festival and dedicate the entirety of the festival to the management of volunteers in their assigned volunteer section including the set-up team, tabling team, green team, assister team and healing tent. These leadership positions are for those with managerial experience who can be responsible for teams of up to 20 people.

Set-up and Take-down Volunteers

Support the festival by physically moving tables and other heavy item during event set-up, including hanging signs, setting up tables/chairs, decorating the healing tent, green team buckets and bins, carrying vendors supplies and more. This position is essential to ensuring the success of the event, to ensure the space is set for the vendors and community supporters. Lead for this role will coordinate tear down as well.

Tabling Volunteers

Will be staffed with selling tickets to the event and providing wrist bands, selling t-shirts, greeting guests, supporting the lost and found, and addressing addressing questions or directing to the appropriate event organizer. Tabling volunteers can volunteer before the event at packet pick-up or during event day. Essential duties and responsibilities include ticket sales, t-shirt sales, packet distribution, addressing guests, managing lost and found, greeting guests, etc.

Green Team Volunteers

Will educate festival attendees how to properly recycle and compost during the event by directing attendees to the proper recycling, compost or trash bin. Prior to the event, the green team volunteers can- support with the creation of physical signs as well as informing attendees to be eco-friendly by bringing reusable cycle bottles. This position ensures that we can have a meaningful festival and not leave a negative effect on the environment.

Volunteer Assisters

Support in ensuring the safety during the event. Prior to the practice, this includes walking the event to ensure that everyone is registered and has a wrist band. During the practice, this involves walking around and ensuring safety in poses. Assisting beginners, elderly and those with limited abilities in having a safe practice. Must have active liability insurance and a 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training certification. Apply here: Assister Application

Volunteer Healers

Are licensed massage therapists, certified medical professionals and reiki practitioners with active insurance in the offered modality. These volunteers share these healing series during the event on a donation basis to support elevating Akron throughout the year. Must be willing to bring a table or coordinate a table with the lead healing tent volunteer. Apply here: Healer Application
